The National Company for Agrochemicals (AGROCHEM) is a
privately owned group of companies founded in
Alexandria, Egypt in 1981 by Mr. Gamal Hamada,
President and Managing Director. The company had
originally emerged as a trading business importing and
marketing pesticide products locally.
This was accomplished through the establishment of the
National Company for Agrochemicals and Trade.
Later on, when Gamal started the business of pesticide
formulation, he established the National Company for
Agrochemicals and Investment with the objective of
importing raw materialsnecessary for pesticide
formulations. In order to reduce the cost of raw
material's importation, Gamal established the third
company in the group : the National Company for
Agrochemicals and Investment with the purpose
of producing raw materials and intermediaries necessary for pesticide production.
The latter company has evolved into a plant for
packing, re-packing and formulation of a wide range of
pesticides. Starting from 1995, Gamal has embarked on
a major expansion by establishing a new plant in Abu Kir, Alexandria.
Increasing production capacity and pesticide synthesis
were taken as the basic cornerstone of the program.
Since 1998Agrochem has become the basic producer of
pesticide active ingredients and formulations in
Egypt.
Now Agrochem is one of the leading companies in
pesticide industry in the Middle East.
